i finished my last entry hoping to get 2 out of the 4 things i listed done before i leave.. well the bad news is i've done none.. the good news will be that i've had a brilliant time over the last few days anyway, i know i'll be coming back to trinidad one day, if not for carnival this year then hopefully not too far in the future.. i got

a mobile from a cable & wireless sister company called b-mobile which basically runs the caribbean network coverage so that i can use it in most of the islands i'm going to, i paid 40 pound (400tt) for a siemens AL 21a.. it's pretty basic but all the shops haven't restocked since christmas so the wasn't to much choice.. it's be good having a phone back, i've been able to locate friends in trinidad easier and chatted to pals back in london and oz..

For new years i managed to meet up with the cutest of the 3 uni girls i met in maracas and was terrorising the security guards around the 'University of the west indies' campus.. it's shortened to UWI but pronunced YOU-WEE (i was harshly reminded of this a couple of times by the girls).. we were letting of rockets, one strategically placed at an angle and narrowingly missing the roof of the girls halls.. as it was such jokes we drove back to port of spain to get refills of more explosives..

I woke up on new years day and realised i'd drunkenly accepted to play football with Randall a few nights ago, randall is one of the coolest trinis i've met, and i met through his girlfriend who works at the guesthouse who is one the funniest trinis i've met.. anyway after lounging on the sofa most of the day watching cable films i plucked up the strength to pull on my fabregas shirt and head down to port of spains gonzales area to meet up and kick a ball.. we played in memorial park (i took a picture there in a previous photo album) untill the sunwent down.. the trinis i played with loved to dribble but when it comes to shooting it seems too hard as everyone in this county has the goal posts (or sticks) only a metre apart.. so basically there's no long range curling shots in the top corner going on but a mad scramble of 5 or 6 players at the goal mouth battling it out in a series of not-so-delicate kicking.. fortunatly my team won 5-1.. i didn't score as i could hardly walk after playing 5 minutes in the afternoon sun.. i was totally knackered and really couldn't wait for sundown.. i think i have to make a choice soon of keeping fit or enjoying social drinking, as they don't really seem to mix together well anymore.. after wards i was luckily enough to be invited back to randalls house for a beer, tea and food and watch a pirate copy of the new film de-javu.. and even later than that i went round to a street party at the foothill of laventille in gonzales to watch the lovely community spirit of people limeing, dancing, and listening to some indian style drumming.. i read yesterday in the paper that that particular area was a little crime ridden not to long ago but has set a brilliant example on how the community can bond together and create a easy going atmoshpere in less than a year..

Last night i met up with Nkem, kym and daniella (also 'comically' known as Gunshot, PULF and Smurfette) to watch blood diamonds but ended up painfully enduring a kiddie comedy called Unaccompanied minors'.. i also learnt a new word called 'dougla'.. so after teasing me when i couldn't understand the proper pronuciaton or meaning, 'doodles' 'doodler' 'doogle'.. i went on.. i found out that danielle used it to describe her heritage meaning a mix of african-indian descent, it seemed a little too close to a racial slur for me but all the girls seemed comfortable using it.. anyway after the girls played a couple of disastorous games of pool and trying and failing to teach me to 'wine'it brings me to my last day in trinidad.. i'm doing some 'liming?' or 'limeing?' (in english - chilling out)and packing my bags for my emotional flight out of this culturally beautiful island.. i've had such a good time here and didn't think i'd stay this long and if i didn't need to kick in to travel again, could happily spend a long time here.. i've met some very entertaining people, seen some wonderful sites and eaten and enjoyed alot of new food.. to all the charming trinis i've met along the way thankyou for welcoming me to your island..
