the last week i've tried to do stuff that wasn't just drinking, on the sunday i went with val and brian and colin to the bbq in worthing, it was packed and we enjoyed the entertainment of mr. impact.. he is a quality, i'll upload a movie so you can see him at his best.. later that day val and brian went back to the colder climates of north england, i doubt it's too far up north but up the M1 somewhere.. so i was left with colin.. he's a guy who's from lincoln and he wasn't drinking that day coz he fucked his ankle up somehow and had some perscription tablets he was taking, anyway walking around with him he told me he used to be a bad boy over here in barbados and i believe him coz the old bill know his name along with all the dodgy guys along the gap.
next day i went to check out rockley beach as it's billed in the lonely planet as one of the best, when i got there i found a little spot next to some sexy, bikini clad bajan girl, at the other end of the beach was 3 different girls topless running in and out of the surf.. one blonde, one black and one milf.. unfortunatly my camera only has a 3x optical zoom so the only shot i did get came out fuzzy and crap so won't bother uploading it.. the next camera i get has to be atleast 12x zoom just for that reason.. anyway back to the beach, i can see why LP talked it up as the different shades of blue is amazing, the sands lovely and if the writer was male maybe he had the same experience as me, the only thing i found difficult was the swimming... i couldn't be bothered to go out far enough to get to water thats 6ft deep.. i must had gone out about 200m and it was still waist high.. along with standing on rocks that topple you over every couple of steps making me look like an idiot.
the tuesday night i met up with a couple from new york, joe and eleanor.. since we met in the hostel they've been real cool, and carried on that vibe at "the boatyard" which is the tourist trail for tuesdays over here.. i drank a few vodka redbulls and rememeber dancing around the place probably similar to how i was walking on the rocks in the sea the previous day.
next morning i felt ruff with good reason, i managed to pull my still drunk selve to the "graham hall sanctuary" that his a little hidden gem on the south coast of barbados, it's like a totaly different island in there, it's small and i think the entry fee was about twenty bajan, but it's well kept and a nice change, i bought the book to go along with the signposts for b$2.50, but it really didn't make sense as the numbered posts would be pointing towards some group of trees and the book would be talking about herons or something, the trail takes you to a couple of lakes and ponds, 3 avery/cage things and along the route are interesting information boards.. i walked it quite quickly so had a look in the shop where i saw a petition to stop a big waterpark being built rightnext to the sanctuary, some texan thinks it's a gap in the market but it will kill the tranquilness of the sanctuary.
Thursday was independance day so managed to wake up really early, about 8:45am coz the parade started at nine and i had to get in a ZR taxi just down the road to the garrison, i made it ontime for the start, and managed to walk around getting a good look at everthing when i was standing at the far end of the field (i say fireld but it's the middle of the horse racing track) observing a couple of women who'd collapsed during the parade i managed to miss a good photo op of little kids with a massive bajan flag.. i got to see it in the newspaper the next day but it's not the same.. anyway it lasted about an hour and a half, the sun was baking me so and i was starving so left to get back to the hostel for my submarine ride i'd booked.. it started off down in the docks near where i first arrived and was good fun, in the submarine you get to sit on hard plastic seats but you get a massive porthole to see the reefs and wrecks right up close and you don't have to get wet and decompress and all that you get with scuba diving so was perfect for children and grannies of the cruise ship for the day..
next day i bought my tickets for trinidad, the lady was getting funny about selling me a one way ticket so i had to buy a ticket out to grenada for just after new years which will cost 25US dollars to change the date as i don't know how long i'll be there.
Durng my beach time today i got chatting to a sweet bajan girl at the seating surrounding the beach.. she was cool and i was having a good conversation with her, then her mate the lifeguard called out to her and finger wagged, what he was implying was 'don't talk that white tourist you look like a whore' which pretty much sums up why these girls are so hard to get talking to.. after i seen that i asked her what he ment.. i she just confirmed my suspicions that the beach boys chat with the white women for get money in exchange for sex, so she doesn't want the bajan guys to think she's doing it the other way round.. it's a little sexist but it's how the bajan guys control these girls..
after another day on the beach me, joe & eleanor and a new guy scott from georgia,USA all went along to the famous friday night fish fry in Oistins, coz we got there later than i'd done it the previous 2 weeks i got to see the entertainment that went on after everyone had their fill, it's basically a couple a massive speakers and some guys dancing around wishing they were b-boys, there was one notable appearence by a old, fat english guy trying to mix it with the boys, when i looked away he had slipped a landed on his arse with great appproval from the crowd of onlookers as he made his way out of the circle he passed me trying to laugh it off but had a dirty graze on his elbow that was sure to gush blood any second.
so it brings me to today, i've been busy get bronze on the beach and even rented some snorkeling gear to check out the reef at dover beach, it looks pretty crap even though i saw some pretty fish, i didn't stay long as it's further out than i'd been before but it's only in 6ft of water but i kept on thinking about sharks and being swept away in the current and never been seen again so hurried back to the safety of the shore.. i did plan on going quad biking on friday but they cancelled and arranged it for saturday but got cancelled so was due to go again tommorow, sunday, but i was told they cancelled again.. it's a shame as it was quite cheap b$130, i would of got to go to the windmill in the north that i hadn't managed to get to and it was for 3 ours of biking!
anyway i'm meeting up with donna the guyanese girl again and probabaly in for a painful night of no conversation due to the brainwashing b/s the guys give out about white guy/black girl thing.. i'm not expecting anything of her so i'm thinking of just not turning up as i leave on monday.. but we'll see!!
