All we have to look back on now is the 7,500 photo's we took, give or take a few hundred but probably give, a bunch of pamphlets, our journal, the 50kg of souvenirs that are sitting on the floor in Australia and our memories. Is all this enough though.... you bet. It was worth every penny and more. The only regret is that time went too fast and it's still hard to believe that we have done all we have and are now back in London in the freezing cold.
The 2 weeks with Neill's parents was great. We spent time with his sister's new little boy who is also named Neill and is now 7kg at 2 months old, caught up with some of his old school mates who are still around, visited family members, did some more shopping - why not it's so cheap, had dinner with a friend from work who is now back in Durban and again had many Braai's....
We spent one night in Johannesburg with a couple that we knew from work who moved back home about 2 1/2 years ago and it was great to see them again before boarding our dreaded flight back to London to arrive at 6am.... it was peak hour by the time we got on the tube to make our way to Queens Park. Welcome back to London.
We spent the next few days house hunting and had no luck on the first day. The standards over here are stocking and it's so hard to find something that is half livable with an oven, a washing machine and sometimes a bed - a couch seemed to be a replacement in some houses. We persevered and eventually returned to an old landlord who we went through in the past who had a large studio/1 bedroom apartment available near to where we use to live. He told us we would be impressed before we had even seen it and asked if we'd like to sign the contracts before we went....'Um...we'll look at it first' but he was right....it ticked all our boxes and even more. Security cameras, lifts, bike shed, care taker, bathroom with a bath, built-in cupboards, washing machine / dryer, oven, large lounge and even someone to collect your rubbish...only down side is that we can't move in until 1st April. At least we have something and it's secured.
So now is the grueling task of doing the photo album and deciding which one's out of the 7,500 photo's are going to make it into the book.....let's just say it will take a few months. We're in the process of compiling a 100 or so of our best photo's for you to look at so once we have this will email them on so you can check out our trip through our eyes.
Now.....where to next....?????
