We arrived here to look at Treachery Camp, very pretty but a trek across dunes to the beach. We went for a bit of a drive around the area and took a 4x4 track down to Lighthouse Beach. It was time to test the Mazdaratti Bravado on the sand! hmmmm.......not such a good idea!! Hindsight... We got bogged (or stuck) in the sand!! It was quite scary as the truck would not go backwards or forwards at some point!!! I was digging out sand and trying to push the truck!! What a sight!?!/ Luckily there was another person on the beach who helped us out!! We had to let way more air out of the tyres than expected and both me and the helpful beach person had to push the truck up the last part! There were several futile attempts before we made it out of that! I imagined us being marooned on the beach waiting to be towed out! What an experience!?! Well, we made it out, got a couple of beers and sat with our helpful beach person and his girlfriend for a drink and to calm down!! Never got to exchanging names with our helper! Well done to Ewan for managing to eventually get the truck out of that mess! Something I don't wish to repeat I can tell you!!!!!
We had to drive very slowly to get more air for the tyres as they were almost flat! It happened to be a shack where you put money into an honesty box for the air. The man who ran it came out for a chat and said we should stay on a different part of the reserve. The area we were in was full of beautiful fresh water lakes so we ended up staying at a campsight on the lake for the night.
We were going to stay in Newcastle for a day or two but decided to have a fly-by visit and head south to Sydney!
