Today we drove 606 kilometres and ended up just outside a place called Corning. We hadn't actually intended to drive quite so far. We planned to stop at the first tourist information centre and figure out a good place to go but NY state doesn't have info centres off the main highways - at least none that we were able to find!  The first "question mark" sign that we saw (which normally indicates an info centre) was in Corning and was run by the town so we found a campground in the area.

Along the way to get here we had to pay two tolls but on the plus side the roads were in good condition.  The highways that were free were in terrible shape and the poor motorhome took a pounding.

When we got to our campground we were assigned a spot that meant we had to take a little detour through another camping loop so that we would be heading in the right direction.  We were almost out of the loop when we heard a noise on the roof.  Bob stopped right away and we got out and saw that we had caught a low-hanging cable wire on our way past.  I had to climb up on the roof of the motorhome to unhook it.    At first I climbed up and stood but the motorhome kind of swayed so I dropped to my hands and knees and crawled from that point on.  Problem was that there are a lot of obstacles up on the roof - roof vents, solar panels and skylights.  I got the wire unhooked in the back but it was also hooked toward the front so I had to crawl the length of the motorhome (and back).  My legs were jelly afterwards - I didn't think that I had a fear of heights but it freaked me out!  They say you should do one thing a day that scares you so I'm covered for today at least.

There is a railway track that runs through this campground but we are assured that it won't be a problem.  We got settled and before we went to bed we tried to lower the privacy blind in the front window.  All of the bumping around must have jiggled some wires since it no longer works.  Fortunately we have a fold up accordion style of blind that we can use until we can get the blind fixed.
