Well it's time for another trip!  This time I am off to the Caribbean on the Carnival Conquest out of Galveston, Texas.  Claudia and I are ready to get some good weather - she more than I after coming through a German winter.  The winter in Houston wasn't great, so we are both up for some sun!  After grabbing some kolaches at the Kolache Factory, we got on the road to Galveston.
As we approached the bridge across to the island, we got a phone call from Carnival saying that the ship has been delayed because of fog - so don't show up until 4.  Well it's 12:25 and we are ten minutes away, so that sucks!!  We decided to park and walk around for a bit, and then Claudia figured out that we could just drop our luggage off and park the car in the extended parking lot . . .why didn't I think of that?  Well she is the smart one anyway.
Anyway, we went through security, checked in, and then left to get something to eat.  The meal was on Carnival due to the delay.  After lunch, we went back and sat in line for what felt like all afternoon, but in the end it was only about an hour and a half or so.  Finally by about 7:30 we were able to board the ship (7 hours late) and get settled.  The room was surprisingly nice with a huge closet and actually a decent sized bathroom!  After getting the things packed away, we went up to the top deck, where it was misting and foggy.  Come to find out we weren't able to leave Galveston due to the fog again!  Hopefully we will leave soon . . .
