Spent today touring the outside of the Tower of London, Tower Bridge and East London along the River Thames. Took the Underground from Ealing Common to the Tower Bridge station and toured the outside of the Tower of London. Crossed over to the South Bank over Tower Bridge and then walked a couple miles east along the Thames. Destination was the Mayflower, which is an Elizabethan pub dating back to the 1600's. Apparently the Pilgrims moored their ship here before sailing to Plymouth, Massachusetts in 1620. Given my connection with the first colony in Dare County, NC, Jamestown and Williamsburg, VA and Massachusetts, I thought it would be cool to have dinner where the Pilgrims set sail from London. It was well worth the hour walk to see this very interesting pub.
