Tuesday - Lots of laundry. Met Dad for lunch. Mom chatted with Cecilia, Paco´s wife, for a while, and then we all went down for some serious computer time, when Mom did the Portugal update. My computer is still shot, so I only have access here at the university or sometimes if I find a WiFi spot on my phone. The computers here are old and limited on their software, so the kids don´t have access to everything they´re used to (pbskids or jumpstart), but they´ve been playing PrimaryGames.com and today they´re watching a DVD that we got from the library. A little surprisingly, the library gave me my own card, and now we´re able to check out books and DVDs. We make sure and get some English and some Spanish. Graham has discovered he loves the Asterix comic series, and the rest of us are enjoying it, too
Wednesday - We went to the park and Eroski for groceries in the morning, did some housecleaning, and then Dad came home for lunch. You can get a lot done before 1:30 in the afternoon! We met Dad at work around 5pm for a walk around town to show him some of the sights, including stops in a bike store and a music store. No purchases, yet!
Thursday - The kids and Mom had a big trek around town today to the library and park. We brought our lunch for a picnic, and then stopped for the requisite ice cream later on the way home. Graham really wanted the double cone, so he and Mom shared! At 5pm Mom enjoyed her birthday present one week late -- a pedicure. Quite different than what you´d get in the US, but needed after all this walking. Then one of the students, Diane, watched the kids and did her laundry at our place while Dad and Mom went out for a couple of pinchos, pizza and pasta! No offense to the Spanish, but Mom would much rather go out for Italian food than for any Spanish specialties. In fact, I think we´d all agree that we´ve already had enough Spanish food; it´s really nothing to get excited about. Of course, you´d expect me to say this, when the national specialty is ham. The wine is good, though, and amazingly affordable. I get a good bottle from the grocery store for 1.5 Euros, and I´ve seen a bottle on sale for 75 Centimos
Friday - This morning we pulled out all the recycling to create a beautiful castle and royal gardens for presentation to our ¨king¨on Sunday for Father´s Day. We packed them up safely for transport since tomorrow we´re heading out early for 2 days & 1 night in Sevilla. We had wanted to take a train so the kids could experience it, but found out it costs at least three times as much, so we really couldn´t justify it. We´ll head out in the rental car in the morning to see the beautiful city! Tonight we have dinner plans with Porfirio and his kids, along with Joe and his 2 kids that arrived Wednesday from Hungary. His wife works at Exxon, and they´re on a 3 year stint there. Porfirio a taxi scheduled to pick us up at 8:30pm to take us to dinner, so we need to make sure we get a good afternoon snack!
