got up early to watch the sunrise - there was almost no one there...except for a group of 3 or 4 Asians - and they were speaking Russian! XD I could understand nearly every word too. =D But they probably had no idea I could understand them...one of them came up to my dad and me and showed us a picture which had one of the guys + the Canyon + some bright ball of light. He asked us what the ball of light was. My dad answered "the sun;" I answered "солнце" =D The guy looked a bit surprised and asked "You speak Rashin?" I giggled, "чуть-чуть." XD Hehehe, he just kinda walked off shocked and quietly asked, "How do you know Rashin?" XD Lolz, that made my day XD
We returned to camp to pack up and then went to hike down the Canyon. Hiking down is actually harder, I think, than hiking up--the path is so slippery going down; I slipped several times, which is terribly dangerous and scary because there's no railing or anything to keep you from falling down the Canyon. But it's a lot easier to keep steady footing going up.
Afterwards, we took showers-- $2 for 8 minutes! What a ripoff. So tacky how they charge for showers. =P
We drove over to Hoover Dam. They made us stop at some checkpoint to make sure we didn't hae anything in our overhead carrier. Kinda stupid because they didn't even really look. It was 112 degrees Fahrenheit when we stopped - a new record for this trip and for all of us in general, I think.
The dam was ok; the tours were expensive, so we didn't go. Just walked across it for a few minutes. Hayley and Dad kept bitching about the heat, but it's really not bad, since it's dry.
Then to Las Vegas...I think Grandma probably had a heart attack with all the risque stuff there. And Aunt Jean and Uncle Fred probably flipped out when they called up to talk to Anna, only to find out that she's in Vegas =D Traffic in Vegas is ridiculous, so after we'd driven down the strop once while trying to find a restaurant, Polonex, my friend had told me about, we drove out by the airport to eat dinner in the van. We were going to just keep going on towards Utah, but I got Dad to drive down the Strop one more time, this time, after dark, and after buying a new memory chip for my camera.
Then we drove to UT - I fell asleep, but woke up to watch "Big" at the hotel.
