Well we finally made it to Oslo. I was super excited about the trip because we were meeting my friends Melissa and Loni on Friday morning in Oslo. We split the drive over Thursday evening and Friday morning since it is an eight hour drive from Stavanger.

The weather was okay so we spent time exploring the city and seeing the sights. Friday involved a ferry trip to Bygdoy and visited the Viking Ship museums and the Kon-Tiki museum with the many artifacts from Thor Heyerdahl's explorations. I can't imagine traveling on the ocean in any of the ships we saw yesterday! The rest of the afternoon we visited the Stortinget (parliament building) and the Royal Palace.

Today we had an amazing buffet breakfast at the hotel...the best I have had in Norway so far. Then we went to the National Gallery and saw artwork by some Norwegian artists including Edvard Munch's 'The Scream' painting, which was recovered from thieves and is now back in the gallery. The weather was great in the afternoon so we walked to Vigeland Park to see the open-air sculptures by Gustav Vigeland. There are sculptures everywhere!

Tomorrow we will make the long drive back to Stavanger...
