Sundays tend to be less chaotic than the rest of the week. In Norway, all of the shops are closed on Sundays. There are only a few small convenience stores open, if the store is below a certain size it is allowed to be open on a Sunday.

At first it was hard to get used to the change. I was so accustomed to being able to go shopping, get groceries, and whatever else I needed on a Sunday. However, I think I am now used to having the shops closed on Sunday and it really isn't all that difficult. In fact, I think I kind of like it.

Our typical Sundays have become lazy days where we can sleep in...which is especially important if you are out with the Norwegians (or ex-pats) until 3AM Sunday morning! I usually go to a class at the gym. Kevin is able to watch the CBC broadcast of Hockey Night in Canada on a Scandinavian Sports Channel starting Sunday around noon Dalsnuten 01

. And, it is an opportunity for me to spend some time cooking and trying new recipes in the afternoon. I really enjoy our Sundays.

Lots of Norwegian families spends their Sunday afternoons outdoors. They can be found walking around one of the local lakes or hiking on one of the many trails around Stavanger. It is amazing to see all of the people, young and old, outside.

Now that it is not raining as much, I hope to do some more hikes on the weekends. The local newspaper published a book with a hike for every weekend. All of the hikes are within a reasonable driving distance from the city centre.

This Sunday I did one of the hikes from the book with some friends from work. I have included some of the pictures in the photo album.
