Where I stayed
Stuart Ranges Caravan & Tourist Park
What a great roadhouse at "Pimba" where we filled with fuel, "Spuds Roadhouse" it was a cool restaurant and bar filled with number plates from all over the country, woodfire and to Josh's delight, pool table and jukebox
Onwards and Upwards as they say we are off again with full petrol tanks and another lesson learned, always fill up in town not on the outskirts!!! The terrain became very red and rocky but surprisingly there was a lot of green vegetation and the area definitely resembled a scene out of Mad Max .. The weather had actually cooled off a little once we left Port Augusta and was aprox 19c most of the day. Long stretch of Sturt highway and several DVD's entertainment for the kids as they are starting to get used to spending 6 hours in the car a day. Again Tim and I played the "Which grey nomad am I? " game as we are now passing them in droves (small things amuse small minds in this kind of countryside)
A small side of the road rest stop was our place for lunch today as we had packed our own choice of culinary delights, although it was at a cost as we were all forced to use natures own restrooms for our after lunch ablutions !!! We were back on the road again after a kick of the footy at 1.45pm with only 200km to knock over this afternoon yay !!
Are we there yet ?? finally we saw the signs for Coober Pedy along with all the mounds of dirt and open opal mines , very attractive town NOT !
Arrived 4.00pm at the Stuart Range Caravan park, nice but as for Coober Pedy we decided to start Vodka Oclock early, as it will seem much nicer later tonight !!! A good travelling day .......
