Well lets just start out by saying I really miss Mr. Roboto (our self steering gear) because about an hour into the trip Mr. Roboto got caught in a bed of weeds that probably weighed several thousand pounds and bent the stainless steel pole.  here is a like to my spot adventures page that will show our trip down from Monterey to San Diego.

Since we lost Mr. Roboto we had to hand steer the whole 400 miles.  We worked in 4 hour shifts around the clock.  for the first 300 miles we had plenty of wind, it blew steady 10-15 mph, and we were able to sail the whole time.  The only probably with these first 300 miles is it was foggy almost the entire time.  There were a few breaks were we could get decent visability but mostly we were counting on the radar so we didn't get in the path of any other vessel.  With about 100 miles left we ran out of wind and had to start motoring.  Once we started motoring it seemed that the fog liffted and we had excellent visability.  This worked out good because our radar decided to quit working.  but we made it into Mariners Basin in Mission Bay on Monday (Oct. 19th) at around 11am.  It was nice to be anchored and finaly have some time to relax!

Probably the highlight of our passage was the albacore tuna that we were able to catch! Kevin was so excited to have fresh fish.  I was excited that i didn't have to cook dinner because Kevin took care of that!!  I have to admit that I even had some and he does cook some tasty fish.  I never thought i would say that about tuna.

We are so excited to be in Southern California and in sunny weather!!  I'm pretty sure it is only going to get warmer, or at least stay this warm, for awhile!!  I can definitely get use to the 75 - 80 degree weather!!
