It's been a while since we wrote anything. We broke away from the caravan, and
had a vacation within a vacation. We drove from Xpujil direct to Cancun. We skipped
Chetumal and Tulum. We drove to Cancun and parked our RV in the park everyone else would be coming to in a few days. We had exciting traffic/traffic circles in Cancun in the driving rain...it was interesting. After getting settled we drove around and went to dinner down in the hotel zone. I am glad we are not staying there. The next morning we drove to Playa del Carmen (42 miles) and got on the ferry to Cozumel. We went diving in Cozumel with a small dive operator- only Sandy, Johney, and one other guy from Germany with Robert & I diving. The diving was really good. Great visibility, and nice easy drift dives. We stayed in a small boutique hotel close to town. After diving on Monday we went to MARGARITAVILLE and had really "the best" margarita and huge nachos. We then walked all over town. The next morning we dove with the same people, plus an extra couple. We did 2 dives, then a 3rd after lunch- we were really hungry then so walked into town for a great Mexican/Seafood dinner. The next morning we left on the 8am ferry and Robert & Johney went to dive in the Cenotes. Cenotes are freshwater caves/caverns to dive in on the Yucatan. They said they were incredibly beautiful. Sandy and I had a leisurely day and had breakfast, and walked all over Playa del Carmen. It is called the city of "beautiful people". We shopped, and then sat in a beach bar for a couple of hours, and watched people, and had a couple of drinks. That night we met up with the "Trackers" -our group. They missed us, and we were glad to be back. Today 2/4 we took an different boat over to Isla de Mujures with the Trackers. We drove golf carts around the small island. We then laid on the wonderful beaches and got some sun. Tomorrow we leave for Chichen Itza-one of the 7 wonders of the world.
