Chicken bus journey - part one

4.45 am wake up and get ready to go for the ferry, we have to leave at 5.45am from the house. at 5.40 am shane goes outside to get his sandles . and suprise- one is gone .. a new toy for a local dog. in the 10 minutes we didnt find the shoe (of course i had told him the night before to bring it into the house because i lost a shoe to a local dog the week prior- we found mine... evidnently it didnt taste as good. now we have to get shane new sandles somewhere... so off to the ferry... the ferry leaves utila at 6.20 am and arrives at la ceiba at around 7.30am. we take the taxi to credomatic for some dive shop business and get dunken donuts for breakfast... waiting until 9am for credomatic to open. after 35 mintues in credomatic.. we grab another taxi to the executive bus station... arriving there at 9.50.. bus set to leave for san pedro sula at 10am... there were 2 first class tickets left. i watched the movie 27 dresses but had no headphones...so i read the spanish subtitles..
omoa beach
. bus arried in san pedro sula at 1 pm.. find out executive bus does not go to puerto cortex... but go upstairs and 2 blocks over... so outside to look for the other us.. find small collective bus right before its set to leave and hop on... take a tour of i think all of san pedro sula picking up and dropping off random people. close to puerto cortex, everyone gets off and piles on a different bus to go to puerto cortez proper.. but we need to go to omoa. in the middle of downtown puerto cortez. the drivers helper yells at us to get off and get in the school bus across the street (going the opposite direction) for Omoa while frantically waving at the shcool bus (aka chicken bus) driver to stop and wait for us. current time 2.45pm about 1 hour later i start noticing signs that say omoa municipality - this omoa bus does not go to the beach - only outisde of town.. lots of people get off at one stop and shane goes to the front of the bus to ask if this is the stop for omoa beach... yes.. get off now.. so we get off a take a motorozied tuk tuk to the beach... hang out on the dock and then go check out roli´s place (backpackers hostel)... time.. 4pm... we get a private room with shared bathroom..drop out small backpacks and go for a walk on the beach looking for food and a good place for watching sunset... then back to the hostel for some sleep... 8pm... have to get up and do it all again in the morning... alarm set for 6.45am...and off to guatemala and belize...
