Our final day in Paraty and we wake up to glorious blue skies!! I am doubtful at first as this was how yesterday started. But it stayed!!

Chris and I are leaving today and he's also feeling quite ill so we decided to not go to the rock slide and just hang around near the hostel/local area. We have to check out at 11 but they said we can leave our bags, but we're a little nervous as there're no lockers for our big bags.

We have a wander into town to see Paraty properly. The problem I've had so far is the streets. The cobbled stone streets are HORRENDOUS to walk on!!!! They are seriously awful. You have to either choose to look down at where you're walking and not see any of the town. Or take 3 hours to walk one street because you have to stop after every step to view the streets! It's so beautiful and if you're not walking on it, the streets look so idyllic but I really couldn't live here. Just the few hours we were in town drove me mad. Also it's not just big cobble stones, some are rough and grippy but some are flippin' smooth as marble so you end up slipping all over the place! Gosh. But once you get over that it is just so beautiful!!

After wandering in town we decided to have a chill out on the beach in front of our hostel, Chris had a nap but it turned out I'd laid my towel right by a dog poop so got that wafting in my face for 45mins before is realised it was right under my nose!!! Yuck!

The beach was pretty but it does look a bit grubby. It's not a perfect idyllic beach but it's fine because we're going to experience loads over our adventure!

Our bus wasn't until 1150 as the journey would take approx 13/14hours from Paraty to Curitiba via São Paulo so we wanted to try and travel overnight.

The only problem we had was our hostel got a bit of the hump that we came back to the hostel to be near our bags at approx 3pm. The hostel was also dead. There were approx 3 other people we saw that whole day.
So, because they got a bit funny with us Chris and I decided we would go down to the town and just wait there.

So boring. We sat on a bench for 1 hr 1/2, chatting, people watching, eating chocolate. at one point a local feral dog came up and was having cuddles with Chris. He was gorgeous and we named him Bernard. He sauntered off and we saw him a few more times.

It got to the point where we couldn't even wait 10 more minutes. It was 'ok what's the time now?' Oh god it's only been 4 minutes!!

We decided we would go for a cheap dinner and drag it out for a good few hours (it's 6oclock now)
We went to a place called Paraty 33. It had a lovely American-style atmosphere and Chris and I bought a meal for 2 and a few beers. We tried to Skype mummy as we had a plug and wifi but the signal wasn't great and we had live music right begin us so couldn't really hear!
The music thought was amazing! Just a man on guitar and a lady singing but every now and then the man would make awesome trumpet sounds with his mouth to accompany his guitar! Awesome!
Only problem was when we got the bill we were charged R$10 each for the pleasure of hearing love music! (They do that in Brazil so watch out if a love band comes on whilst you're dining!)

After dinner we left and walked to the bus station but when we go there it was only 930, I needed a wee and there were drunk teenagers making me nervous. So - we walked back into town to buy 1 drink and have a wee. And again, waste some time.

Eventually it's time to catch our bus.
Now, I haven't explained the busses yet. These are not like English busses. They are not even like English coaches. They are amazing. Seats that recline almost horizontal, comfy cushioned seats, curtains, on board toilet. Magic. The only thing to be wary of (which we were luckily warned about) it the air con!! It blows a hoolie and you can get quite cold! The seasoned local travellers take blankets!!
And so, we end day 11, on a bus to São Paulo to then get another to Curitiba.

Good times!
