We arrived at the John Wayne Airport, and our driver was waiting as planned. He helped us with our bags which seemed to take forever coming out of the chute. Our drive to the car was kinda fun because the driver was interesting to talk to. He is married to a Japanese lady and goes to Japan every 4 months. He is learning Japanese, so we talked about Japan and the Japanese language, and food. Also learned that he used to be one of Johnny Carson's body guards. Gotta love Orange County. :)

It was great getting back to the St. Regis, Monarch Beach. It's such a pretty property and great hotel. Our room was gorgeous and good size, and looked out towards the plaza/pool area. We then went to Motif for lunch. DH and I shared a wedge salad and Kobe beef sliders. It was a good lunch, although they had major problems figuring out how to bring us regular (non-flavored) iced tea. Sheesh.

After lunch we had to get showered and dressed for the reception and dinner. We met up with some of DH's colleagues at the cocktail hour and sat with them during the meal. One of the guys was just mentioned in the Wall Street Journal in an article about the rash of extreme cars getting wrecked. His was a $420,000+ Porsche Carrera. Things that make you go hmmmmm. The funny thing though was when we were all just sitting there talking about our kids, lol.

The dinner menu was as follows:

Salad: Baby arugula and spinach, enoki mushrooms, lavender-honey citronade
Entree: Sauteed halibut, asparagus soft polenta, rosemary-garlic milk
Dessert: Warm chocolate cake, roasted almond ice cream

Anyway, the dinner was good, and we just headed up to bed afterward.
