Back to Paris We Go
Entry 9 of 11 | show all | print this entry |

Unfortunately, we couldn't take our train from Perrache, we had to catch it at Part Dieu, but it still wasn't too far. We got to the station and got on the train no problem. We arrived in Paris and took a taxi to our hotel, the Paris Renaissance Vendome, which was very near the Louvre.
We got checked in, then headed out to walk around. Oh, it was exciting to be back in Paris. DH had a meeting with some people in an office at the Place Vendome which was just around the corner. Not only was it convenient, but it was very posh. :) The meeting went very well. From there we went to this big antique mall (for lack of a better description) just behind the Louvre. I believe it was called the Louvre Antiquaires or something. Wow! This was not just any antiques. These paintings cost like 35,000 Euros and more. It was fun to look at for awhile, but after a short bit I was like, let's blow this popsicle joint, since I didn't have an extra $50 grand or so to spend.
When we got back, a bottle of Champagne was waiting for us in our room and a little box of John-Paul Hevin chocolates (more about this later--on the flight home). :) For dinner we ate at La Truffiere. *That* was amazing. I don't even know how to describe it. One thing that was really cool was that you could pick out and buy a truffle. They come out with gloves on, with a scale and a basket of black truffles. You pick out your truffle by weight. Then the girl would shave some of it on a slice of bread drizzled with olive oil and the rest of the truffle would be sliced over your dinner. Wow...now how cool is that? The food was out of this world. It was trully a great restaurant. After dinner we decided to walk back to our hotel, which was no small feat I tell you. But we managed to do it. Not only did our feet hold out, but we didn't even get lost! We saw some amazing sights along the way too.
