So we were supposed to arrive at the Paris du Nord station at about 11:45 AM, but did not get there until around 12:15 PM. We had to navigate the train station with all of our luggage, trying to read the signs in French, with not much help, to get to Gare de Lyon station to catch our 1:00 train. I bought Metro tickets to Gare de Lyon, and we hurried as fast as we could to get there.
Unfortunately, the Metro train was running late also. Sigh. We must have missed our TGV train by a couple of minutes at Gare de Lyon. Crap! So then I had to navigate through a couple of different ticketing booth lines to see what we could do.
Once I finally got to the right line, the ticket agent told me we were going to have to buy new tickets. "WHAT???? ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!" "No, I'm not kidding" she said. But eventually, we worked it out, because the Eurostar was late, she transferred our tickets to the 2:00 Lyon train. Phewww! What a relief. So we punched our tickets and lugged our bags onto train number two (or I guess that would be train #3) for the day.
The train ride went smoothly. We found out from a couple of people that we should get off at Perrache station and not Part Dieu (thank goodness they told us, because we never would have known). Perrache was much closer to our hotel. (Continued on next travelogue)...
