So even though we left Los Angeles about 30 minutes late our American Airlines flight got to London pretty much on time. We still had to get on a bus to get to another terminal and go through security again, which had a long line. Then they kept putting this person's cane through the x-ray and broke the machine so we had to transfer to another line. We were getting frustrated, because our time was quickly running out, and we were quite possibly going to miss our connecting flight to Berlin.

The other annoying thing was that when you fly out of London, they only allow one carryon bag...and they do mean ONE. I knew that ahead of time, so I had paired down what I normally take on the plane, usually I have my backpack purse, a tote bag plus my carryon luggage. So now I had my purse and carryon luggage. I did not know, though, that they included one's purse in the equation, so I stuffed my purse in my luggage. sigh.

So we finally made it through security and saw that our flight to Berlin had been delayed. We had to wait around to find out what gate. When the gate came up we had to go to yet another terminal. Just as we got to the gate, they announced boarding, and I was second in line to board. She stopped, though, and said I had to go to the desk. Huh? Got over there, and that lady was on a walkie talkie, and she was all a flutter. Finally she told us that because our flight from LA was late they didn't think we were going to get on this flight, so we were no longer checked in, and they released our seats. WHAT? So they had to check us back in.

Meanwhile, several others were queueing up behind us in the same boat. We had lost our good seats, and not only that but were not sitting together. Not happy. She was clacking away trying to find two seats together, she found two but there was a family behind us with a child, and she wanted to give the seats to them. Fine. So DH and I had crappy middle seats. I HATE middle seats with a passion. That is like airplane hell to me. I was pissed. But the flight was fast, and the seats were fairly roomy. Of course, since they didn't let us have hardly any carryon, why wouldn't they be? (rolls eyes)
