DH left early for his conference again. So the kids and I slept in a little and then went downstairs for breakfast. After we got ready, we took the free shuttle to the Distillery District. It was supposed to be a happening place with shops and restaurants, etc in the old brick buildings that used to be distilleries. However, it was completely dead.

There were some people walking around, but not many. Most of the shops were art galleries. We went into a funky store that reminded me of Anthropologie, and another store that was all car and motorcycle stuff. The kids liked that one. The restaurants looked great, but none were open. I had thought we would have a great lunch down there, but there wasn't enough to occupy us until lunch time. Overall, it seemed like a smaller version of the Pearl District in Portland, OR...but they have a long way to go; they need more shops and stuff to look at.

From there, we walked straight down the street to the St. Lawrence Market, which was opened in 1803. It had some great meat, cheese, fish, and anything-you-could-want stalls. Then we walked around the corner to Fionn MacCools pub to have lunch. We ate indoors, practically by ourselves. It seems everyone else wanted to eat on the patio, but it was too windy for me.

From there, the kids and I walked down church street. We went in St. James which is very pretty inside and out. We saw the Metropolitan Church of Canada and St. Michaels. By then, we had made it back "home."

We had some down time, then got ready for dinner. We took a taxi over to the CN Tower. Getting up to the restaurant (360) is quite the process: you go from one line to another, go through a security thing that blows the heck outta ya, get your picture taken (wonderful after having your hair blown to bits), then finally take the elevator upstairs.

We had a great table next the window. Our reservation was for 7:30, so it was still light when we sat down. 360 is the world's tallest restaurant, and it revolves about once every hour St. Lawrence Market

. So we got a wonderful 360 view of Toronto as the sun set. The food was delicious too! We had a great time.

After we ate, we went down to the glass floor/observatory level. We went outside for a little bit; it was quite windy and cold. We had fun looking down the glass floor section, although it was quite small. But we could see the football game going on down below at the Rogers Center. We could have gone to the top observation point with our City Passes, but we were tired.

We took a taxi home. There was some pedicab guy going ballistic right by the taxi line though. He had punched one guy and was yelling obcenities. I told the kids..."just get in the car!" Our taxi driver told us he was having a rough day and hadn't made enough money, so he was taking it out on everyone else. Bizarre.

We got home after 11 pm, so we went to bed. It was another great day in Toronto.
