Got up and headed downstairs for breakfast (complimentary with the room). Louise was at the front desk in her motorcycle gear. She had forgotten to give me something, so was dropping it by on her way out of town. We said our goodbyes.
We had a pretty nice breakfast. We don't care for buffets too much, but this one was quite nice. The breakfast potatoes were yummy! Then we got ready for the day and headed out.
On our way to the Royal Ontario Museum, we visited the Parliament Building. They were getting set up outside for Canada Day events. We went inside, but you could only go so far unless you're on a tour.
We looked at items in the gift shop area. The lady was really nice and told us some facts like the delegates shopped there for when they were going to visit other places, because everything in the shop was made locally
We also walked through the University of Toronto which is beautiful. It looks very old and prestigious like it belongs in England or something.
We finally got to the museum and went inside. DH bought the kids and I City Passes. We took in a lot at the ROM: Canadian artifacts and history including natives, dinosaurs, natural history, textiles and costumes, and a special exhibit, "Darwin: The Evolution Revolution." We went outside the museum for lunch and ate at Gabby's, a pub. Turns out that Gabby's is a chain, and it wasn't that good. It was like eating at fast food at pub prices (I got dressing for my salad in a packet). :b I would have enjoyed the McDonald's next door more, I think.
Anyway, after a late lunch, we finished up the museum and walked back to the hotel. We were worn out. We relaxed a bit.
We walked down a block our two and had dinner and a middle eastern restaurant Ali Baba's. I had beef shawarma that was very good, DS had fish shawarma that he loved, DH had falafel plate, and DD had samosas that made her tummy hurt at about 2 am later in the night.
We walked on to Dundas Square where they were showing "Gone With the Wind," my favorite movie, on a HUGE screen. I sat on a bench mesmerized for a few minutes. It was the part where Scarlett dresses in drapes and goes to Rhett in horse jail trying to get tax money to save Tara. Such a great classic.
From there we walked past the old City Hall building and the new City Hall building which are great contrasts in architecture.
By then we started the walk back to the hotel.

She told us that the trillium plant is the symbol of Ontario's parliament, and the significance of the different flags and crests (between city and province). We also walked through the University of Toronto which is beautiful.
