Because we left late, we arrived a little late, which was ok because we had a pretty long layover anyway.

We had to go through Passport Check and Customs since this was our entry point back into the U.S. It went pretty smoothly.

We got to our gate and settled in. I went and got us some beverages at Caribou Coffee. The Girl was thrilled with the mound of whipped cream on top of her frappacino-type cooler. I called my husband and we talked for awhile, then talked to my was so nice to hear their voices. The Girl was anxious to talk to them too.

They finally started to board the plane, calling on the 1st Class passengers. Then all of a sudden there was an announcement that we had to change gates! WTF? So a whole 777s worth of passengers tromped through the airport to another gate. Then we hear this not-so-confident voice over the speaker, "Passengers going to Los Angeles, this is your correct gate. If you have any questions, we will be here to answer them for you." We were all standing there, looking at each other going, "Um, yeah, not too convincing."

Then less than two minutes later the next announcement was this,"There was a mixup at Tower Control, please go back to the original gate. We apologize for the misunderstanding." Groan. So we all herded ourselves back to the original gate. So what next? Yep, another announcement, "Passengers going to Los Angeles, this is your correct gate. We will begin boarding shortly." Uh huh.

Despite our unease, we did actually board, AND we did so from the originally planned gate. The Girl and I made our way to the VERY back of the plane...last row. The good thing was that instead of three seats, there were two, and the seats actually reclined. Not only did they recline, but the seat came forward a little too. This was a Delta connection, and I liked this plane a lot. The flight attendants not so much, but the plane was great.

It took us quite awhile to get off the ground; a storm had come in and it was raining in sheets. Once we finally got in the air, we got to see some cool lightning from above. It was a pretty good flight.
