Only a few of us arrive and stay on the first night. The cabin is always so cold when we get there. So we get everything out of the car and get the fire going (the only source of heat). It takes the rest of the night to get it warm. But that first night is also the only peaceful night. :)
Day 2 (Fri, Dec 17, 1999)
Everyone else arrived on this day. At capacity, there is somewhere around 20 people in the cabin, lots of kids. Always crazy. There's a ping pong table in the basement so we always have fun with a tournament of sorts. I am one of those that stays up late, others in the family, unfortunately get up way too early. So not much sleep goes on.
Day 3 (Sat, Dec 18, 1999)
Today we have our traditional Christmas dinner. Although, we have it at lunch time. Why that is I do not know...it's always been that way. But if my mother wants to get up at 5 am to put in a 26 lb turkey then, whatever. We all overeat of course and lay around for awhile while the kids run amok. Then in the evening we open our presents. :)
Day 4 (Sun, Dec 19, 1999)
Time to pack up and clean up the cabin (we rent it every year). It's always mass chaos with everyone going in and out with boxes of uneaten food and suitcases. Always sad to leave the chaos behind though...until next year.
