The World of Wines

DH and I went to The Ritz-Carlton in Laguna Niguel where they were presenting The World of Wines. Basically, it was a bunch of different wine-related events, and you could purchase tickets to whichever ones you wanted to go to.
First we went to "A Classic Alsacian Pairing: Foie Gras & Gewurztraminer." I'm not certain, but I suspect that was the first time I ever had foie gras.
Craig Claiborne was there, so we got a signed copy of his book: Elements of Etiquette.
Then we went to "Sherry & Tapas: A Taste of Spain." Marimar Torres was there from her estate vineyard to share her sherries and some tapas with us. It was great fun.
Then we went to the big event: "The Great American Tasting Spectacular." To be honest, it was a little disappointing. There was a lot of food, and a lot of wine, but for $95 per person, it really wasn't that special. You just walk around with little plates, trying to balance it and your wine glass and still be able to eat and drink at the same time. I guess for $95 a person, I'd like to sit down.
Overall, though, we had a really great time.
