The plane finally touched down. I gathered all my bags, and walked down the aisle, then the ramp. We had to board busses to go to the main terminal, which was a little weird and annoying since I was so anxious to get home.
Once we got off the bus, we had to walk a mile it seemed to get to customs. Once there the lines were not too bad. The guy greeted me and welcomed me home. I said I was very happy to be back. I zipped through there, then went to the luggage carrousel. I got a great spot by where the suitcases drop down.
I waited, and waited, and waited--I'm not sure how long, but it seemed like an hour or so. There were so many bags going round and round. They were stacked three or four deep, but my bag never went by. Finally, I heard my name called.
I walked around to the other side until I found a Cathay Pacific employee. He told me they had gotten a message from Hong Kong that my bag never made it. OK. He said they'd deliver it that night after it arrived on the next flight at 4:something p.m. Actually, it didn't even phase me. As long as they knew where it was and they'd deliver it to my house, great.
I jammed to the last customs check, handed the guy my form, he said, "welcome back" and let me go through. Rob and the kids were waiting for me as I came around the corner. Harris had made a sign for me that said, "Welcome back, mom." It was so good to see them.
Hugs and kisses. Kisses and hugs. Then off to the car for the drive home. Fortunately, the traffic wasn't too bad. We made a Starbucks stop along the way.
When we got home, I waited outside while they went and brought the dog out. She was so excited to see me.
It was wonderful to be home!
