This morning we got packed up, and Ada's cousin came and picked us up. We had breakfast on the street. Ada's cousin and Ada had corn zhou, and I had soup. We also had two different bread-type things. One was like a middle-eastern flat bread; the other was like a twisted airy stick bread. I wasn't very hungry. I think I was still full from last night's dinner. Plus my migraine was starting to come on.

We went to a temple. We were able to get in free. Last night at dinner, one of the guys that ate with us is affiliated with the temple and was going to open it up just for us after we ate! But it would be difficult to see anything without lights. Anyway, we walked around and saw the sights, then we went to one of her cousin's apartments, the one we were going to stay at, then to Ada's aunt and uncle's apartment. Her aunt joined us to go to lunch.

We had some great food, including caramel covered eggs, pumpkin, and other good stuff. It's always a feast for the eyes AND stomach. From there, they took us to the train station and we said our goodbyes. I invited them to come visit in America. They have been so kind and generous to me.

The train ride went by rather quickly since I slept most of the 2.5 hours. I was so tired. Ada and I went back to my dorm room and rested awhile until her mother and father came and picked us up at 5:00 p.m.

From there we went way out to the outskirts of Beijing to a restaurant that serves the original Beijing hot pot. Ada's uncle (her father's brother) wanted to have dinner with me. I felt very popular!

The food was amazing and lots of fun. It's very similar to Japanese Shabu Shabu. We had two different cuts of lamb (the most tender at the neck and another part) and beef, plus different vegetables, and appetizers, like 100-yr old quail eggs, lotus roots stuffed with sweet rice, lamb vertebrae, sesame bread, etc. I was so stuffed, and they wanted me to keep eating. At this rate, I'm going to look like Buddha when I come home!

Because Ada's uncle is the oldest brother, his wife is the matriarch of that side of the family. She was so nice. She invited me and my family to come visit. I reciprocated the invitation. Everyone in Ada's family is so lovely. I had a wonderful time.
