Well our search has continued. DH has been talking with finance/legal people while I have been in contact with several real estate agents.

I've come across a town called Villefranche de Rouergue in the Aveyron, Midi Pyrenees. There are a couple of half-timbered townhouses for sale there right in the heart of this medieval village. They come complete with wooden beams, lots of old world charm, and cobbled streets. Both are just down from the central town square where the cathedral is located.

These two places are our top choices. One is complete and comes furnished; it's a two-bedroom and at the top of our budget, but ready to rent out immediately. The other is a three-bedroom that requires some finishing, but is more affordable now. Decisions, decisions!

I still have to decide if I will look at any other regions. It will be necessary, of course, if neither of the houses in Villefranche don't work out. There just hasn't been any other towns that appeal to us like this one though.

So, my exact whereabouts during the week in France is still an unknown; more planning is needed.
