Where I stayed
On our way to Chiang Rai, we stopped for a break at Mae Khachan Hot Springs. There was a small geyser right off the road, so it was easy to spot. There were some shopping stalls, a couple of food stalls, bathrooms (thankfully), and of course, some bubbling, sulfur-scented water.
The water cascaded down from the top of the hill. It is hotter at top; not as hot at the bottom.
We took off our shoes to dip our toes in, but honestly, it was too hot for me. So I took a spin around the shops. You could also purchase a just-boiled egg from the ladies at the round pool. They put the eggs in little individual baskets then dip them in the hot water, and voilą, you have a perfectly boiled egg.
We didn't spend much time there, but then, it wasn't necessary. It was a good place for a break though--always nice to get out of the van.
