Where I stayed
Tent, Cabin, or Home
I have many fond memories of Yosemite, hiking around and taking in all the natural beauty that it is. I have played in the cold, cold water of its streams and ponds. I have gone horseback riding (that was fun!), and I have even stayed the night there.
My parents and I stayed in a tent-cabin (wood frame with cloth walls) in May for my birthday one year. Froze my ass off. It felt like the middle of winter. I also stayed in one of the real cabins in the Sequoias there. That was much better. I still remember the smell of the trees and the camp fires. Oh it was lovely. I would like to stay at the Ahwhanee some day; it is terribly expensive though.
Most of the time, we just went up on day trips. It didn't give us a whole lot of time, but certainly better than nothing. One time we stopped by a wide river, and I was skipping rocks or something. Some photographer asked if she could take a picture of me for a magazine. I wonder if that photo ever made it to print?
Anyway, Yosemite is definitely worth a visit. I would suggest spending as many days in the area as possible, because there is quite a lot to see and do, especially if you love being out in nature--Yosemite can't be beat for that!
