Charles Bridge (World)

The Charles Bridge, which stretches over the Vltava River, is great. It is a wide pedestrian crossing, and I have very fond memories from above and below that bridge.
The bridge was commissioned by King Charles IV in 1357, so it obviously has a long history. It seems to just be a natural place for people to go though, or at the very least, to come and go. DH and I went out with another couple we had met on the train from Berlin, and one of the places we went to was a little outdoor tavern UNDER the Charles Bridge. It is called Pode Mostem, A.D. 1357, and we just stumbled upon it. It had white lights strung above the tables and candles sticking out of empty jugs of wine lining the wall that overlooked the river. We sat at a table next to the river and we could look down the way and see a wheel house, a mill I guess. It was incredible. Between the atmosphere, the laughter and wine we shared with our new friends and just the magic of the night, it was absolutely unforgettable.
The four of us continued our night, walking around, having fun. We crossed back over the Charles Bridge, taking pictures and goofing around. The Charles Bridge will always be a place of great memories for me. More thumbnails ...

5. A long-awaited renovation of Prague famous Charles Bridge has been gaining momentum. The overall renovation started and should be carried out in several stages without any limitations for the traffic. The total cost has been estimated at €8 million.
