First let me say that Prague itself is an amazing city. It surpassed what I had imagined it to be. The area surrounding Prague Castle is full of history and beautiful buildings. It also provides a commanding view of the valley below.

Many (perhaps even most) of the buildings around Prague Castle were built by Italian architects. One of the buildings just down from the castle is an excellent example of "escrito" (I hope I spelled that right), where the design is scratched into the exterior walls. It is very striking.

We did not go inside Prague Castle; we did walk around it and had a great time watching the changing of the guard. It helped that we were right up front, practically next to the guards. In fact, one of the incoming guards almost stepped on my toes as he marched in to take his place. There were 100s of people there to watch the ceremony.

We walked over to get a view of St. Vitus Cathedral, which is quite imposing yet somehow delicate looking with its knobby spires. Next time I am in Prague (and I DO intend to go back) I would like to see the interior of the cathedral.

A trip over to the West Bank should not be missed when in Prague.
