We walked along and looked at the goodies. I saw a painting of cherubs I really liked. I asked about the price, and then got the best price, then said I'd think about it. Afterall, we had just started looking.
We got down to the end of the street, and we were hungry, so we had lunch just around the corner at a place called, La Porte Didot. I had a cheese omelette, DS had an "everything" omelette, and DD had a croque monsieur.
We went back to the flea market to find everyone closing up shop
The seller had already put all his things away in his van, and was doing last minute stuff. He said he still had the painting. I told the interpreter to tell him that the only way I could pay for it was by traveller's cheque, and amazingly the guy agreed. The next miracle, was that it was right in front of his van. Otherwise, he said it would not have worked. So I got my painting with the help of the interpreter, and actually another seller across the sidewalk who also helped out. They were all very nice.
Some of the vendors were still up on the other street, so we finished up along that way. I bought an Italian coin from 1921 with a bee and flower on it. It just appealed to me and it was only 1 Eur. It started raining just as we were walking to the Metro station to go back home.
I did some reading, then we all took a nap. ZZZzzzzzz. DH called at about 7 pm, and it was great to hear his voice.
We decided we'd better go get something for dinner. So we went to the Goncourt Monoprix. Closed! Crap. I thought, "Well, maybe the bigger one is open." So we walked past the Republique up to that one. Closed! Double crap. Nothing was open. I knew there was a Franprix (a tiny, almost convenience-type store) on the way back, so we had our fingers crossed for that one. As we approached, my heart sank. The windows were covered by metal doors. But lo and behold, the door was open! Yay! So we bought some premade sandwiches that were rather tasty for a total of 5.50 Eur.
Hot tip: Do your shopping for Sunday on Saturday.
