We decided to have lunch at Chez Prune which is just down the way along the canal. I saw it listed in a guide as one of the best bistros, so I thought we'd give it a go. It looks like any other bistro really. It appears that the menu changes daily though. The food was good, but I still think the food was the best at the place we ate at in Marais.

Next on our agenda was to go to the Paris Mosquee. We were a little confused about its location on the map, but we finally found it by walking through the Jardin du Plantes. It really isn't as impressive from the outside as I had expected. Although it is quite pretty, just very simple.

We first went into the courtyard where there are lots of tables. It's lush and green, and a lovely place to have tea. But we decided to go inside for the true flavor of the Mosquee Chez Prune

. We sat down and immediately the server came by with richly decorated glasses filled with volcano-hot tea. We all had reached for the tea immediately (it was warm outside, and we're used to cooling off with iced tea), and we were all caught off guard by the piping hot glasses. We all had forgotten that we had been served HOT tea, lol.

Eventually the tea cooled by the time DH got back from the line at the pastry counter with some delicious Middle Eastern yummies. We enjoyed the minty sweet tea so much we ordered some more. After our tea break, we went through the packed gift shop. I was tempted to get some of those pretty tea glasses, but didn't. I really liked the Mosquee though.

After our delicious tea, we went back into the Jardin du Plantes. Just as we went in the gate we saw a queue area with no one in it for one of the museums. We decided to check it out. It was for the Grande Galerie de L'Evolution with a special exibit on whales. We thought, "Cool, let's go."

We paid 8 Eu each for adults, and 6 Eu each for the kids to get in. We took a look all around the first and second floors. It was really quite interesting how the museum is laid out: Diverse Life Forms, The Evolution of Life, Man's Role in Evolution, Room of Endangered & Extinct Species, & Room of Discovery Chez Prune Interior

. There was every type of animal imagineable, including rare and extinct species in a special room. These, of course, were old specimens.

Just as we were going to the third floor, they started to close. We hadn't paid any attention to the time, and we missed out completely on the special whale exhibit! That was a bit frustrating. But we really enjoyed the time we had there. It was quite different than other museums we had been too. And, of course, it's a great place for kids.

So we exited the museum, and walked through the Jardin du Plantes and enjoyed the beautiful flowers, sculptures and bees buzzing around. And then headed home.

We did our Monoprix run in the evening. And had a nice rest of the evening.

You will...
laugh about missing the whales later. It's just one of those things...

Just a mo......
I'm enjoying your visit to Paris and Brussels, but just a mo...'Just as we went in the gate we saw a line with no one in it for one of the museums.' How can you have a line with no one in it?
