DH went out and got us some Pain au Chocolat for breakfast. It was the first time I've ever had it and, oh my, was it good.

The weather was so much cooler today that we changed our plans from going to the Catacombs to going to Montmartre and Sacre Coeur. That ended up being a great choice. It was a beautiful, cool day.

We took the Metro out to Montmartre and climbed and climbed and climbed the stairs up to Sacre Coeur. It afforded us fantastic views of the city, and Sacre Coeur was quite pretty close up.

We went inside the church, but I wasn't allowed to take pictures which was a real bummer. We did not pay extra to go into the crypt and dome. All Those Steps

I did buy a very small crucifix though. Not sure what possessed me to do it, I'm not Catholic. But I'm going to hang it somewhere in my house.

We then walked around Montmartre and did some souvenir shopping, looked at street art, and saw the Musee de Montmartre which is in the oldest house in the area. We did not go into the museum though. The area is very cool though; I just loved it.

We then had lunch at this big cafe that is sort of right in the middle of a square. The cafe is called, Au Clairon des Chasseurs. It is surrounded by painters selling their art.

We had a great time. DD and I had Croque Monsieurs. DH had a killer omelette, and DS had a crepe fromage. It was good stuff. We had fun talking to a young Canadian couple sitting next to us too.

We then walked down the stairs, down the hill where the funiculaire is located. We stood in line at the bottom of the hill for the toilettes for what seemed like forever. While there, we discovered that they were filming a movie right there at the Ecole des Garcons. It looked like early 50's era, I'd say. So, we watched them film for a little while.

We then walked to a little park where the kids played, and they made some friends. I even heard them speak a little French.

There was this one little girl who was a major wild child though More Steps

. I'd say she was about 3 years old. She took her mom's purse and went running out of the playground area. I saw her bite a little boy who was playing with the kids. And DS said later that she had bitten him too! She had tried to take another little boy's soccer ball, picked up an empty soda can off the ground and tried to drink from it, and then licked the dirt. OMG.

We took the Metro back to the apartment and chilled for awhile.

We decided to have dinner at La Cochonnaille in the Latin Quarter. None of us were very hungry, and the menu was, naturally, full of heavy pork dishes. We did manage to have a very nice lightish meal, though, of escargot, a charcuterie plate, and salad which we shared.

We walked around the area, saw Notre Dame, the Seine. Stopped for some late night crepes. Then headed home.

Re: Ha!
Thanks, Louise!

Yeah, that girl was nuts! Her mother was right there, constantly chasing after her...
