Went to the Monoprix and spent a lot of time just walking around to take advantage of the coolness.

Other than that we just stayed in the apartment and relaxed. The kids played; I watched tv, read, wrote in my journal. It was just an all around nice day, with the exception of the intense heat.

I put a load of laundry in the miniscule washing machine. The dryer doesn't work, and instead of taking the load to the laverie to dry it, I just hung everything around the apartment. The load was small, and it didn't take long for it to dry.

I made our iced tea for tomorrow. They don't have good iced tea here in France. Only bottled Peach tea. Blech! So we brought several boxes worth of Tazo iced tea bags with us to make our own. We had to buy a pitcher though. That was no small task.

We looked in several stores. No one had any it seemed, only teeny 1 L ones. Finally we found a 1.5 L pitcher which to us was still small, but that was the biggest we'd seen so I bought it (this was a couple days before).

What I hadn't realized when we bought it, was that there was a very good reason the pitchers are so small. Duh! The refrigerators are small! The one we bought fit perfectly in the door (but was too tall for inside the fridge).

Anyway, we've been going through a pitcher of tea a day, at least. Although the kids also like a soda type drink called Fiz. Considering I don't like soda, I think it's pretty good too (and it's 0 calories). DD says the milk is weird, though DS doesn't seem to mind it.

Moving on, it finally started to rain with thunder and lightening. I sat for a long time next to the wide-open window, listening to the pang on the roof across the courtyard and feeling the cool yet sticky, damp air flow through the window. It was heaven after the blazing heat of earlier in the day.

I ran a couple doors down to the Boucherie and bought a roasted chicken for 5 Eur and that's what we had for dinner with our usual bread and veg.

DH leaves tomorrow and will get here the following day. I bought a bottle of wine so we can celebrate his arrival. I'm looking forward to him getting here.
