Today started like the others.
We bought a cheese from the Pyranees, and also some croissants at a boulangerie. So we made croissant sandwiches with the cheese, jambon cru, and mustard. And we had cornichons also, of course. So we had a yummy lunch at home.
We walked into the Marais (3rd arr). I wanted to find the Place des Vosges, the most beautiful square in Paris. I really didn't know exactly where it was. We just starting walking in the general direction I thought we should go. Eventually, I thought I'd better ask someone.
I saw a kindly looking older gentleman walking his dog. I asked him, timidly, in French (yay me!) which direction the Place des Vosges was in
On our way to the Place, we came upon the Musee Carnavalet, which is in two hotels (or what we would call grand mansions). The museum is free, so we took advantage of our luck in finding it and went through. It's a beautiful place, and we enjoyed our time there.
We then continued our journey to the Place and found it without further delay. The Place des Vosges is indeed quite beautiful. And on this warm day, Parisians were sunning themselves and enjoying their time in the bright sun. We sat, ok, *I* sat on a bench under the shade of the trees and watched the people. The kids chased the pigeons.
We walked back home via the Bastille.
We had turkey medallions and courgettes sauteed with garlic, salt and pepper for dinner. Afterward, we went out to get some treats, I got the kids some palmiers a few doors down. I wanted a crepe really badly, but couldn't find a place that was open. Oh, well, didn't need the calories any way!

. He was indeed very nice, and seemed pleased to help. He went on and on in French about where to go. I just nodded exhuberantly, and said, "oui, merci" not having a clue what he had said. However, I got what I needed to know since he had pointed in the direction we were headed. :)On our way to the Place, we came upon the Musee Carnavalet, which is in two hotels (or what we would call grand mansions).
