Where I stayed

Well, this morning I called the owner of the apartment where I will be staying. This is something I am supposed to do to set up the time to meet for me to get the key and for her to get the rest of the rent money and deposit. Admittedly, it took awhile to figure out how to just place the damn call. I had never made an international call before!

From the rental agency, I have a home number and a cell number for the owner. So, I found out that to get out of the US, you dial 011 + the country code, which for France is 33 + the number. Then I had to figure out, with DH's help, that you don't dial the '0' in front of the 1 or 6. It's a 1 if it's a regular number, 6 if it's a cell phone in France, but there is usually a '0' placed in front. The cell phone number wouldn't go through at all. The home number was someone else's home! Acccckkkkk!

At first a woman answered who did not speak English. I pretty much got that she was not the person I was trying to reach, but was at a loss. I asked in French if she spoke English. Non. But she gave me over to a gentleman who did. It appears that others had called for the apartment owner there before, but that was definitely not her number.

I emailed the agency and can only hope they respond quickly!

Secondly, I had emailed the shuttle place that is supposed to transfer us from the airport to the apartment (and vice versa when time to go home) yesterday because I have not received a confirmation yet and I should have by now.

So not only am I beginning to freak out about not being able to get into the apartment, I'm beginning to freak out about GETTIING TO the apartment.

Mon Dieu! What a nightmare!
