Where we docked was not a great representation of Panama. I would not recommend any one to Colon unless they wanted to take pictures of an after picture of a beat down urban disaster area.
however i was able to book a tour and see the Panama Canal and tour the Canal on a Kayak which was great experience

There's more to Panama...
First of all, Colón is Spanish for Columbus, not colony!
True, the city is - in essence - a slum (except for the Free (trade) Zone and cruise ship terminal), but every country has 'skeletons in the closet.' Besides, Colón is not being touted as a travel destination by the IPAT, Panama's tourism institute.
There's far more to Panama than either Colón or the canal, which most people with at least half a brain, consider to be one of the gratest engineering feats achieved by man.
In addition all to the obvious natural wonders the country has been blessed with, there is Panama City with Latin America's most spectacular skyline.

umm more than that
