The trip up to Rishikesh was great!
Coming back and seeing Sabrina after almost 5 weeks was even better. This time the "Ambassador" gave me a proper tour of her home town Bombay. We saw the bay, ate lots of ice cream and coffee. Ate like champions fresh fish and tasty prawns what a treat.
Close to a week was spent near Churchgate, the area predominantly occupied by the British during there 300 year campaign of Dominance, before getting kicked out due to civil unrest in 1947. Not much has changed it is the best place to hang out in Bombay due to the wide clean roads and still operable sewer/drainage system.
I booked a ticket to Colombo, Sri Lanka with the prospects of renewing my Indian Visa and doing some wave surfing before heading back for 4 months for a motorbike ride with Sabby.
A word to the wise never arrive on a Fri if you have governmental requirements to fulfill. The Embassy was closed by 11AM and i stayed in Colombo for the weekend. Luckily a whole house was arranged for my stay from a Guest house and upon arrival i have found what is to me my "dream house". A beautiful open concept house, brand new huge 40' ceilings and three levels with brick, concrete, old rail road tracks as floors and a gas stove to boot.
This made the stay much more manageable as i did not know what was awaiting me Monday morning. A 200 person line up in the morning sun waiting outside the Embassy. Myself the lucky count of person 201, there was a wonderful couple from Italy a boat builder his wife and child, who just so happened to "know" me well enough to come into the line at now person 14! ha! Lovin' it! The process was long forms photos and copies only to be told to come back again with the now stamped form in two days time
ahhhhh.......... another two days in the dream house with 15 cent coconut and 20 cent fresh papayas and a gas stove i can cook on. umm ya ok
The embassy work was now complete so i hoped on a intercity bus and headed to Weligama to meet a fellow i have never seen before but through e-mail said this was a great spot to go surf. Met a strange fellow who was the MP for the area. We spoke of his trip to see the President to help sponsor financial aide for the area. And some random Fish Bar-B-Que stories. He said he had a friend in the Weligama area and we should go see him. Reluctantly i went with the pleasant thought of being stripped naked robbed raped and eaten by jungle monkey's. Sometimes its better not to think with a vivid imagination.
There was a wonderful introduction from him to a beach-side Hotel owner by the name of Lucky. Greenpeace Hotel was about 100M from the Ocean and such a chill vibe with a beautiful vista of the Bay. After spending years on the road. Cruising, traveling, flying from place to place and hotel after hotel i finally found "the spot" an area of land with potential for my thoughts of promoting an area for extreme sports and outdoor activity. The wind was howling, the waves were breaking and the stars were shinning down.
Close to 6 days was a whirlwind adventure of meetings and planning for my dreams. I purchased some surf boards for rental and struck a deal with 4 hotels so i can do bookings over the net and take a mild commission.
Thinking that the time spent in Weligama being on the beach relaxing maybe catching a wave or two was far from the truth. Probably 5 minutes was spent alone on the beach dreaming my day away.
Colombo morning of the 26th i arrived. The Indian Visa ordeal was hopefully coming to a close as i was flying out that night. The Visa came back but for only 3 months so plans were changed when i arrived back in Bombay to leave earlier than usual.
Presently i am in Bombay, waiting for Sabby's paper work to be completed then heading up to Himachal state to buy my motorbike and head on a 2 month cruise.
