Leaving London was manic. We don't know how we eventually got everything completed but amazingly we did. We were quite sad to wave good-bye to our little flat but knew we had so much to look forward too. The one problem is that we have been burning the candle from both ends and both felt exhausted.
Heathrow held a nice surprise in the form of an upgrade to Premium economy. Mike had obsessively been logging on to the BA site exactly 24 hours before take-off to get us an emergency exit. When they told us our seats had been changed, Kirsty got prepared to kick off but had to back down quickly and look sheepish...
We escaped London grey for Bangkok mugginess and a hot 33 degrees. The air is so thick it has been described as needing to be chewed which we think is quite a fair description! Thai efficiency is impressive, with it only taking us 45 minutes to disembark from the plane, clear immigration, collect our luggage and be on the transport to our hotel. Our hotel was adequate, most importantly air-conditioned with an in-house restaurant. Like all 3rd world cities, Bangkok is filled with ownerless dogs and cats just getting on with their own thing. We were situated opposite a temple and on a scooter route which proved to be quite entertaining.
So though it was 1 night in Bangkok, it was relaxing, but then we will return as we have so much else to see...
Not least of all Bangkok airport which has superseded Barcelona on our fab list! Sandton City would be proud. We don't think we've seen so many label stores in one area before.

Mike in Bangkok
As we were staying in a residential area close to the hotel there were plenty of roadside stalls with food. Feeling still quite green we decided not to brave it and ate at the hotel. The food was great though the music alternated between Country and Western, Celine Dion and Mariah Carrey. I now understand what people mean by an authentic pad thai. After eating we showered and fell into bed to fall asleep to bad cable. The next morning we were up early and returning to the airport to fly to Kathmandu!!!So though it was 1 night in Bangkok, it was relaxing, but then we will return as we have so much else to see...
