Today the weather had changed and we welcomed the cooler temperature as we packed up. We were heading south but had decided not to go too far as we have a week before we meet up with our fellow travelers.

We drove down the coast, through showers and stopped at Woodburn on the banks of the Richmond River for a coffee break. This is a small town on the highway and allowed us to get a few supplies as we were heading into a national park for a couple of nights. We didn't see much of the town because of the rain.

By lunchtime we had arrived at our destination- Woody Head Camping Ground which is in the Bundjalung National Park. We chose a site near the water and settled in for a few days. It is so peaceful here and we were lulled to sleep at night by the ocean.

The bird life here is prolific and there were a number of roos hopping around. We were told there were goannas in the park but we didn't spot them on this occasion!  The weather has been very showery which has been more of a nuisance than anything. Between showers we did manage to explore the area a little. We walked along the beach to Shark bay and saw the evidence of the erosion caused by the pounding tide. The bleached timber fallen on the beach and washed by the tide particularly caught our eye. The park rangers have built a rock wall and sand dune to try and prevent the erosion taking away the camping area. It's a wonderful feeling to walk along the sand and be the only humans there!

This has been a peaceful interlude and tomorrow we move further down the coast.
