Where I stayed
Back to Sydney and we made some time to catch up with friends and see family. We arrived back in Sydney Friday night rush hour traffic which took hours and I took a wrong turn and we ended up going over the Sydney Harbor Bridge which was spectacular. Only problem was that to use the bridge one needs to pay a toll fee, which is fine as long as one has prepaid or had an electronic tag - both of which we did not have in our car from Brisbane !! We then spent 4 days trying to pay the $1.75 fee to avoid a $400 fine - easier said than done when their website was broken!!
Cousin David, having just returned from honeymoon kindly came over from Melbourne to spend Friday night and Saturday with us. We had a super time as he had booked us into a very cool hotel and we hit the town for an excellent dinner washed down with many beers and cocktails!! Next day we headed out to Manly by ferry only to get stranded as there was some sort of "terrorist threat" which led to us begging a cab too take us back to the city so Dave could catch his flight
Next day we made a trip to the northern suburbs to see Greg and Nadine. Lovely to catch up with them and to see the area.We got more of a feeling to what it would be like to live in Sydney and it was good to drive around some of the outer suburbs.
On the Sunday we had brunch and a wander in a cool inner city suburb and later caught up with some of Ems's extended rellies who all get together every Sunday for some tennis and tea at a local tennis club. They were all very nice people and we were really glad to have made the effort to see them. On the Monday we headed up the coast north for lunch with the Rellies parents (Duncan's cousin and her husband - Jean and Brian) - Very nice to meet them and we had a great time.
The last two days we chilled out and firmed up some of our plans for Borneo and SE Asia.... Farewell Oz- we will be back!
