One day we made a trip up back to Gypsy point and found a lovely resort which now stands where the Gypsy Point Hotel used to be. Mom has fond memories of her dad bringing them up there by boat for a meal and drink when they were younger. She was gutted to hear the place had been taken down, however the new place Gypsy Point Luxury Lakeside- is lovely and we ended up staying there for 3 wonderful nights as a treat. Luckily they still have the old photos of Joey the kangaroo that used to come to the bar. The butcher in town provided some awesome steak and chicken and we had super BBQ's 3 nights on the hop.
We hired a boat and chugged down to the entrance to the top lake watching the hugge schools of jellyfish float by. On our return we went for a swim and Ems managed to get a bee sting while trying to remove somme drowing bees. She has a swollen hand for a few days, but was fine otherwise.
Time flew by and soon it was time to put mom on a bus back to Melbourne at the Genoa turnoff..... (What a funny little place that seems to have been forgotten as the houses are run down and there is very little sign of life) She and the rellies were heading off to Lorne for a week to chill out where they had a super time.
On our second last day we took a walk up to the highest point in the area which has wonderful views over the lakes and all the way down to the sea. From the top we could also see the other landmarks over 50km away.
