What a surprise we got when we arrived at dead on 630 AM for the 8 Am ferry as it arrived 3 hours late and the place was heaving with every sort of lifeform imaginable.
We boarded the ferry with people pushing and shoving to get up the tiny staircase at the base of the ferry. Soon it was a heaving mass of sweating people. We arrived on deck to see that on this particular ferry we had been caged off like animals from the rest of the boat. We grabbed a couple of benches while most of the other passengers fought for prime positions to hang their hammocks!! Anyway, we arrived and caught the first available cab and ordered double qucik time to the bus terminal to get tickets to Santa Elina. We arrived to find that there is only one bus per day and it left 2 minutes ago!!! The joys, trials and tribulations of travel by the seat of our pants !!

So now what... We would simply call around and get some accomm for the night! Turns out that being a saturday in peak season almopst everything was booked. Not quite we managed to get a room in a 4 star beackfront place, charging 5 star prices and when we finally arrived the place was a bit of a dump. although our room was nice (recently refurbed) We acted like students, went out bought some really nice frech bread, some cheese, ham, and amazing Avos and pigged out. The stress of spending over 9 hours sweating like animals to get somewhere that should ideally have taken a little over 2 had taken its toll. So the nice hotel was welcome.

We had some joys with the fact their satellite TV bombed at 630 PM, we called reception who sent up a friendly but dumd technie chap who was convinced I had fiddled with the settings, only to get 6 other calls on his walkie talkie telling him that other rooms were also complaining. They got it back and working at 845, and 15 mins later there was a complete power failure... The hotel has two whapping great geneators which kicked into life 2 mins later with the noise that could ahve woken the dead... We decided we had had enough for one day and turned the lights out, cranked the AC up and slept like the dead.

Next day we changed our plans and decided to head straight throuygh Santa Elena de Urayen, and go straight to Boa Vista.
