Bangkok Markets

The weekend market in Bangkok. I now understand why people suggest traveling with an empty suitcase - it would be very easy to fill it. Most of the morning, ok, all of the morning was spent in the markets. Hunting down silk and other "goods". The only unfortunate part was that all the temples and the palace closed early (saturday) so we missed them. We headed back to our hotel (which was ridiculously posh again - knowing very well this would be the end of that! 2 stars or hostels going forward), grabbed our stuff and left to meet our group! 2 Swedish guys, 2 guys from San Francisco, 1 guy from LA (first time traveling with Americans!) basically formed what would become our 'clique'. In addition we had one Aussie woman, and 4 Korean/New Zealanders. Tour guide (whom I didn't exactly care for) was Brazilian. Nice mix.
Anyway, our new hotel was in the heart of the nightlife scene. The streets were filled with vendors, outdoor bars, cafes, restaurants and young Thai and foreigners wandering the streets seeking out the next bar stop. It was too bad, Saturday night in Bangkok, but we had a 6:30am departure - heading on the rough road to Cambodia so only a small amount of Tiger beer tonight, but it was still great atmosphere to absorb!
