Finally! The 'Paris' (although I don't particularly like Paris) of South America. We had actually come to Buenos Aires a night early so that we could catch one of the most popular teams in South America, Boca Juniors, in a Futbol match. So this was a short morning, walking around the central region of Buenos Aires. Our hotel was perfectly and centrally situated on Avienda de Mayo and Avienida de Julio (which happens to be the widest road in the world!). The city was remarkably clean, well preserved and powerful. The streets were full of well dressed Argentianians running between work and lunch. I instantly fell in love with the city. On a short schedule, we saw all the important sights and even had time for a little shopping (got a great new pair of sunnies) on Avienda Florida before meeting for the day's futbol match. This game was so much better than the Vasco game in Rio. Not that I thought it was possible, but the crowd was even more intense, the jumping and chanting louder and we even saw some great goals! Boca Juniors took the game, 2-1.
Later that night we headed to Osaka, voted one of the best new restaurants in Buenos Aires (saw the center spread in the gourmet magazine raving about the restaurant), located in Palermo the trendy artsy district. David's roommate (he lives in B.A.) is the head chef and part owner - making our dining experience quite incredible. He continued to bring out round after round of dishes for us. It is a Japanese sushi, thai, peruvian twist type of cuisine - if that makes any sense. Regardless, incredible. Afterwards we grabbed a few drinks at a local bar before calling it a night. Definitely a full day.
