I canīt even begin to describe how much of a world away Cuzco is from Lima. By the time I left Lima, I thought I would forever hear the sound of beeping cars. Everytime they turn a corner, switch lanes or a light changes colors, they beep! Now Cuzco on the otherhand, the cobblestone streets are only wide enough for one, one-way car at time..hence, no beeping! So very nice.

Anyway, I met my hiking group last night. Very nice group of people half Canadian, half British and myself, the one lone American. Which, I quite prefer it that way! But we got our brutal 3am wake-up call this morning, 4am departure and 6am flight. We were supposed to take some time to rest here today, to help acclimate ourselves with the altitude of over 9,000ft. When we begin the hike, we will eventually reach a peak of 14,720ft before we start to desend. The air is already thin, I canīt imagine what the hike will be like.

One of the Peruvian remedies for altitude sickness is Coca tea. Yes, tea made from "the" original south american coco leaf. We had two this morning within the first hour of being here...quite good actually. It is also supposed to help if you chew on them as you hike..Iīll have a bag at my side.

Anyway, I have lots to write, and some great pictures to upload to this entry, but I have to run. If I can update before the hike starts, I will...
