We set off to Munich today and left picturesque Switzerland behind as we geared up for Oktoberfest. On the way we stopped briefly in Litchenstien and drove through Austria. Four countries in one day! Once in Germany we stopped off at one of the castles of King Ludwig the second. This castle was apparently the inspiration for the Disney castle. Tamie and I walked up the hill to the castle and then up a very steep hill to the suspension bridge which gave us an amazing view of the castle and surrounding country side. Mind you i got off that bridge pretty quickly when i saw the jagged ricks and waterfalls below! But it was a beautiful area. We headed back down the hill by horse and cart because it was raining and headed off again for Munich. We arrived late in the day and it was miserable weather, so we through our stuff in the tents and started in on some local beers. I had a early night because we got up and headed to Oktoberfest at 9am the next day. We went straight tot he Lowenbrau tent and spent 45 minutes trying to find a seat. the tent holds thousands of people, but all the tables were packed already. They stopped admitting people at about 10.15am and if you left the tent, you couldn't come back in. luckily our 'coach captain' knew a beer wench from the year before and managed to get us a table. We settled down with our first beers about 10.30am. the band started about midday and by then everyone was in the mood for singing and dancing. The beer kept flowing and people were ordering things like pork knuckles and whole chickens (vegaterian is a dirty word at beerfest!) after 4litres i called it a day about 5pm and headed onto a roller coaster with another girl on tour. It was a big roller coaster, but i cant say i recall the ride at all. oh well. We headed back to camp and for some silly reason bought more beers, but after a sip of mine i decided it was time to put myself to bed. It was, after all about 8pm! All in all a very fun day of laughing, dancing, drinking, yelling 'PROST!!' and laughing at men in funny shorts...
