Next we went to Venice for 2 nights. We stopped off in Verona on the way to see Juliette's window. There was a wall there covered with love messages, so i added mine and johns names to it. When we got to Venice we headed straight for camp and the camp bottle shop. The boys on the tour entertained themselves with a ping pong tournament and we all set about having a good night. After dinner we went to the bar and had a bit of a dance. The next day we woke to find that 4 people on our tour had been robbed during the night. Someone had crawled into their tent and stolen their money while they were sleeping. That put a bit of a damper on the day, but we set off into Venice so they could make police reports and we could try to improve the day. We walked to St Marks Square and saw St Marks Basilica (where he is buried, even though they lost his tomb, twice, since he was laid to rest there). We saw the old palace and the bridge of sighs, then headed off for a glass blowing demo. It was amazing, the skill that the 'master' had and that is why Venice is famous for Venetian glass. We also went to a lace school, very interesting. Then we set off on a Gondola ride down the canals, it was so much fun. Very romantic for all the couples on board :-( but it was a great way to see the city. I went back to St marks and went inside, the whole ceiling was done in gold mosaic, it was really beautiful. Then i went shopping for the afternoon and headed back to the camp for a group dinner and a quiet night (all of us locked our tents!).
